India has won the second T20 match against Afghanistan by 6 wickets. The Indian team achieved the target of 173 runs for 4 wickets in 15.4 overs at Holkar Stadium in Indore.

Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal played an inning of 68 runs on 34 balls, while Shivam Dubey scored unbeaten 63 runs on 32 balls. Earlier, Afghanistan, batting first after losing the toss, scored 172 runs losing all 10 wickets in 20 overs. Gulbadin Naib scored 57 runs on 35 balls. Arshdeep Singh took three wickets for India.

With this victory, the Indian team has achieved an unassailable 2-0 lead in the 3-match series. The third match of the series will be played on January 17 in Bengaluru.

Afghanistan lost wickets at regular intervals. There was not a single 50+ partnership from the team. On the other hand, the Indian team, which lost the wicket of captain Rohit Sharma in the first over, had two half-century partnerships. Jaiswal and Kohli took control of Team India by adding 57 runs in 28 balls for the second wicket. Then after Kohli was out, Jaiswal made a partnership of 92 runs with Shivam Dubey on 42 balls and took India closer to victory.

The start of the Indian team chasing the target was not special. In the very first over, Rohit Sharma was bowled on his very first ball. Virat Kohli came from here and made a partnership of 57 runs in 28 balls with Jaiswal. Kohli was out after scoring 28 runs.

After Kohli's wicket, Shivam Dubey came to the crease and supported Jaiswal. There was a partnership of 92 runs between the two batsmen. Both completed their half-centuries during this period. Jaiswal was out after scoring 68 runs in 34 balls. Whereas, Shivam Dubey played an unbeaten inning of 63 runs in 32 balls. Jitesh Sharma could not open the account. At the same time, Rinku Singh along with Dubey scored 9 runs while remaining unbeaten.

Afghanistan had a great start, but later the innings faltered.

Afghanistan team came out to bat first. The team had a good start. In the first 6 overs i.e. powerplay, the team scored 58 runs after losing 2 wickets. During this, Rahmanullah Gurbaz returned to the pavilion after scoring 14 runs and captain Ibrahim Zadran after scoring 8 runs.

Afghanistan's innings faltered after the powerplay. Azmatullah Omarzai was out after scoring 2 runs in the 7th over. Gulabdin Naib remained at the other end. Najibullah Zadran made small contributions by scoring 23 runs, Karim Janat 21 runs and Mujeeb Ur Rehman scored 21 runs in 9 balls.

Due to continuous fall of wickets, the team's run scoring pace reduced. Naib scored the only half-century for the team. He played an innings of 57 runs on 35 balls.

Shivam Dubey, who came in the 19th over, was expensive. In this over, the pair of Mujeeb and Karim scored 20 runs including 2 sixes and a four. Which added some runs to the scoreboard. However, India did not allow Afghanistan to score runs in the last over. 4 wickets fell in the over of Arshdeep Singh who was bowling his 20th over. Out of which 2 were runouts. Afghanistan scored 172 runs losing 10 wickets in 20 overs.
