IPL 2023 Analysis: Half Season Over: CSK captained by Mahendra Singh Dhoni, has surprised everyone at the top, while Hyderabad and Delhi are proving to be poor teams.

The opening matches were high scoring. Now even small targets are being defended. In most of the matches, one has to wait till the last over for the results. After 3 years the league is being held on home and away basis but home advantage is not available. Teams also lost 57.14% of their matches at home. Most of the teams are bowling first after winning the toss, but they are getting success only in 42.86% matches.

Openers dominate the Orange Cap

Young middle order batsmen like Sai Sudarshan and Tilak Verma were in the race to win the Orange Cap by scoring the most runs in the early matches of IPL. Now after half the IPL is over, the opening batsmen have completely dominated the Orange Cap. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) opener Faf du Plessis tops the list with 405 runs.

Maxwell is hitting a six on every sixth ball

In a 20-20 over match, big hits and scoring more runs in less balls matter the most. The special thing is that the players with the highest strike rate so far in the tournament are dominated by Indians. CSK's Ajinkya Rahane is currently on top with a strike rate of 199.04, while KKR's Shardul Thakur, CSK's Mahendra Singh Dhoni and RR's Dhruv Jurel are also included in this list. All of them have a strike rate of more than 188.

Brook first century of the season

Sunrisers Hyderabad's most expensive player Harry Brook scored the first century of the 16th season of IPL. He played a 100 not out in 55 balls at the Eden Gardens ground against Kolkata Knight Riders. Apart from him, only Venkatesh Iyer of KKR has been able to score a century this season. Iyer had scored an innings of 104 off 51 balls against Mumbai Indians in Mumbai.

Rashid topper in Purple Cap list

Indian bowlers are also present in the list Rashid Khan of Gujarat Titans (GT) is on top in the race to win the Purple Cap with the most wickets in the tournament. He has 14 wickets in 7 matches, he also has the only hat-trick of the season. He did this feat against Kolkata Knight Riders.

CSK surprised everyone

Chennai Super Kings had lost 2 out of the opening 4 matches. He lost one match at his home ground as well, but in the last 3 matches the team made a tremendous comeback and won all the matches. The current form of CSK is the best among the rest of the teams and the team is also on top of the points table with 10 points after 5 wins in 7 matches.

Scored 200+ runs, 16 times

This season of IPL is also getting high scoring. More than 200 runs have been scored 16 times in 70 innings of 35 matches. CSK has the highest score of the tournament, scoring 235 against KKR. CSK has scored more than 200 runs 3 times so far and they have won all the three times.

Teams losing matches on home ground

In the 15 years of IPL, whenever the home and away format tournament took place, the home teams got the advantage. But this time home teams are facing defeat in more matches. In the 35 matches played so far, the home teams have lost 20 matches. Only 15 times the teams won on the home ground. Even the home teams chased after winning the toss 16 times out of 17, but they won only 6 times.
