The decision was affected by recent events that occurred on May 8, such as the cancellation of a Punjab Kings vs. Delhi Capitals game in Dharamsala due to an electrical failure and the resulting worries of an attack among fans.

BCCI Statement After Match Postponed
After the game's postponement, BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia stated, "We have abandoned Thursday's match considering the security of the players, officials, and spectators."
