In the first 14 matches this year, 8.86 runs per over are being scored. This has broken the record of 2018, when 8.64 runs per over were being scored in the first 14 matches.

Also, the powerplay is also proving to be historic for the teams in the current season. In the year 2023, teams are scoring 8.16 runs per over in the powerplay, which is the highest in IPL history. Apart from this, the teams batting first scored 28.7% of the total runs in the innings only in the powerplay. This figure is equal to season 2018 and jointly second highest. Only in 2009 did teams score more runs in the powerplay.

100-run mark the fastest this IPL

In 9 out of 28 innings, the teams reached 100 runs in just 12 overs. This has happened for the first time. After the first 14 matches of 2018, teams reached 100 runs in 12 overs 7 times. Rajasthan got the 100-run mark in the season against Hyderabad in 7.4 overs. Teams are scoring an average of 88.1 runs after 10 overs batting, which is more than 2018 (84.1 runs).

Average first innings score 181, 190+

A score of 190+ is becoming a guarantee of victory. 190+ runs have been scored 8 times in the first innings of 14 matches. Only KKR has been able to chase this score against Gujarat. On an average, 181 runs are being scored in the first innings. A score of less than 190 could not be defended even once. The biggest score is in the name of CSK (217) and the smallest (121).
