Updated - 1-JUN-2025 4:13 IST

After Jofra Archer ruled out from the series against West Indies, and now Jamie Overton, an all-rounder for England, will miss the rest of the home series against the West Indies since he broke his right little finger in the opening One-Day International (ODI) at Edgbaston. Overton sustained the injury during his bowling spell on Thursday while trying to make a catch.
What Happened To Him?
Overton will now start his recovery procedure under the guidance of the England medical team, even though he received treatment and returned to finish the game with a severely bandaged finger. Overton took three wickets in the match, which England won by 238 runs.
Who Will Replace Him?
No replacement will be added to the ODI team, according to confirmation from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). However, Overton will be replaced by Matthew Potts in Sunday's second ODI. Three ODIs make up the series, and starting Friday, three Twenty20 matches will follow.
The coaching staff of England will be keeping a careful eye on Overton's recovery in order to get him back to full fitness before upcoming international matches. The team will want to keep up their momentum in the series against the West Indies in the meantime.
England currently lead the 3 matches ODI series by 1-0. The second ODI will be played on 1 June in Cardiff.
