Jasprit Bumrah has become the number-1 bowler in the ICC Test bowlers rankings. He got the benefit of excellent bowling in the first two Tests against England. With this, off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin lost 2 places and reached the third position. Kagiso Rabada of South Africa is at second place.
Now there are 3 Indians in the top-5 Test all-rounders. Whereas Virat Kohli is the only Indian included in the top-10 batsmen despite not playing 2 Tests.
Bumrah achieved career best rating points
Jasprit Bumrah took 15 wickets in the first 2 matches of England's home Test series. He took 6 wickets in the first test and 9 wickets in the second. He was also the player of the match in the second match. Now on Wednesday, he reached the top in the latest rankings of the International Cricket Council (ICC).
Bumrah gained 3 places. He reached the top by leaving behind Australia's Pat Cummins, Ashwin and Rabada. Bumrah currently has 881 rating points, which is the best in his career.
First Indian to become number-1 in all three formats
Bumrah is currently at sixth position among ODI bowlers and 100th in T20 bowlers rankings. But he has remained at number one in the other two formats also. Bumrah reached number-1 in the Test rankings for the first time. With this, he became the first Indian bowler to achieve number-1 position in all three formats.
30 year old Bumrah has taken 155 wickets in 34 tests. He has the record of taking 5 or more wickets in an innings 10 times. He has taken 149 wickets in 89 ODIs. He has 74 wickets in his name in 62 T-20 matches.
Ashwin suffered a loss of 12 points
Before Bumrah, India's off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was the number-1 Test bowler. He was holding this position since March last year; he stepped down from the top position after 11 months. Ashwin could take only 3 wickets in the second test against England, hence he lost 12 points. He is at number 3 with 841 rating points.
Apart from Ashwin and Bumrah, only Ravindra Jadeja and Bishan Singh Bedi from India have been able to reach the first position in the Test bowlers ranking.
Yashasvi has advantage in batsmen ranking
Yashasvi Jaiswal gained 37 places after scoring a double century in the second test against England. He has reached number 29. Virat Kohli, who could not play the first two Tests due to personal reasons, moved from sixth to seventh position. He is the only Indian included in the top-10 batsers.
Among the batsmen, New Zealand's Kane Williamson is at first, Australia's Steve Smith is at second and England's Joe Root is at third. Indian captain Rohit Sharma also dropped one place to 13th. Shubhman Gill reached 38th position with a gain of 14 places.
3 Indians in top-5 all-rounders
India's Akshar Patel gained in the all-rounder rankings due to his good batting in the second test. He moved from sixth to fifth position. Along with him, India's Ravindra Jadeja is at first place and Ashwin is at second place. In this way, there are 3 Indians in the top-5 Test all-rounders ranking.
Among all-rounders, Shakib Al Hasan of Bangladesh is at number three and England captain Ben Stokes is at number four. Joe Root has dropped to number six with a loss of two places, Axar Patel has moved up to number five in the Test all-rounders rankings.
Team India is second in test
Team India is at second place in the Test team ranking. WTC champions Australia are still on top. Team India is the number one team in ODI and T-20. Australia is at second place in ODI and New Zealand is at second place in T-20.
