Jay Shah will remain the chairman of ACC

Tenure extended for one year; Decision taken in annual meeting

Jay Shah will continue as the President of Asian Cricket Council (ACC). His tenure has been extended for one year. Jay Shah's tenure was unanimously extended for one year in the ACC's Annual General Meeting on Wednesday.

The Annual General Meeting of ACC started in Bali, Indonesia from yesterday i.e. Tuesday, which ended today. The meeting was for 2 days. Jay Shah took over the post in 2021, replacing Nazmul Hasan of Bangladesh.

Along with being the chairman of ACC, Jay Shah is also the secretary of BCCI.

ACC media rights currently with Star

Members of all the cricket boards of Asia participated in the annual meeting. In this, a decision was also to be taken on ACC media rights, but whether the decision has been taken or not is not yet known. Under which a big tournament like Asia Cup is broadcast. In this, matches of Under-23, Under-19 and Women's Asia Cup are also shown.

Currently, Disney Plus Hotstar has the digital rights and Star has the TV rights. The star had bought the rights 8 years ago. ACC has also invited all the top broadcasters for dinner for the media rights auction.

The venue of Asia Cup will also be decided

The decision on the next venue of the Asia Cup was also to be taken in the meeting. Now Asia Cup will be held in 2025, which is to be held in T-20 format. UAE and Oman are in the race for hosting the tournament. The 2023 Asia Cup was hosted by Pakistan in Sri Lanka and Pakistan, which was won by India.

There is another problem in UAE and Oman getting hosting of Asia Cup. Only the full member Asian Board gets the hosting rights of the tournament and both the countries are associate nations. Although the tournament was played in UAE during 2018 and 2022, India and Sri Lanka had the hosting rights then. In such a situation, hosting rights will remain with a full member board only.
