Mumbai Indians (MI) on Tuesday included Chris Jordan in the squad for the remaining matches of IPL 2023 as a replacement for the injured Jofra Archer. Archer, who has been battling injuries for the last few years, played only five matches this season and took two wickets. His last appearance was against Chennai Super Kings last week.

The IPL release did not clarify the nature of Archer's injury but it is believed to be his right elbow that is troubling him from 2021 onwards. Archer did not play in the entire IPL last year. He started in MI's first match of this season but missed four matches in a row.

Reports also suggested that the lanky fast bowler was in Belgium to undergo minor surgery in the middle of the tournament. He returned to the team's squad but was ruled out again due to an "illness" cited by captain Rohit Sharma.
