Kane Williamson out of the IPL season 16: Knee injury against Chennai in the first match

 

Gujarat Titans got a big blow only after the first match of IPL. The team's star player Kane Williamson has been ruled out of the IPL due to a knee injury. Franchise Gujarat Titans gave this information on Sunday.

Vikram Solanki, Director of Cricket, Gujarat Titans, said that he is sad to see him leaving the tournament so soon. Hope he gets well soon. Due to the injury, Kane will now return to his home country of New Zealand where he will undergo further assessment.

Williamson was injured while trying to take a catch on the boundary line against Chennai Super Kings in the first match of IPL on Friday. He has injured his right knee. Williamson did not even bat in the second innings due to injury. Sai Sudarshan came in his place as an impact player.

Team players were picked up and taken to the dressing room

Third ball of the 13th over was bowled short pitch by Gujarat's Joshua Little. Gaikwad of Chennai plays the shot, the ball goes towards mid-wicket. Standing on the boundary, Williamson jumped and tried to take the catch. Williamson did not let the six happen, but got his knee injured.

The physio and the rest of the team picked him up from the field and took him to the dressing room. He did not get down to fielding and batting again in the match. In his place, Gujarat included Sai Sudarshan as an impact player and made him bat. Chennai's score was 120/3 at the time of this injury.
