Kohli will play Ranji after 12 years: Played last match against UP

Virat Kohli is making a comeback in Ranji Trophy after 12 years. India's star batsman will be seen playing against Railways at Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on January 30. Virat played his last Ranji match in Ghaziabad between 2 to 5 November in 2012 against Uttar Pradesh.

Virat's father Prem Kohli died during the Ranji match in 2006. Relatives had refused to let him play the match, but Virat went to play the match on the persuasion of the family. He also performed the last rites of his father after scoring 90 runs.

Kohli played for the last time under Sehwag's captaincy

Virat Kohli made his Ranji Trophy debut in 2006 against Tamil Nadu. He has played 23 Ranji matches for Delhi, scoring 1574 runs at an average of 50. He has also scored 5 centuries for the team. Virat played his last Ranji match in 2012 under the captaincy of Virender Sehwag, while former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina led UP. The match was played at the Nehru Stadium in Ghaziabad.

Bhuvneshwar sent Kohli to the pavilion in both innings

Virat scored 14 runs off 19 balls in the first innings of the last match played against UP. He could hit only 2 fours. Then in the second innings, he scored 43 runs with the help of 7 fours off 65 balls. He batted for 2 hours and 3 minutes in both innings. Kohli was sent to the pavilion by Bhuvneshwar Kumar in both innings.
