Karnataka State Cricket Association secretary-treasurer resigns

After RCB won the IPL title, there was celebration in Bengaluru on June 4. During this, there was a stampede outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium, in which 11 people died.
Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) secretary A Shankar and treasurer E S Jayaram have resigned from their posts. They have taken moral responsibility for the stampede during the victory parade of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). There was a stampede outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on June 4. 11 people died in the accident.

In a joint statement, Shankar and Jayaram said that they have submitted their resignation to the KSCA president on Thursday night. The statement said, 'Due to the unexpected and unfortunate events that took place in the last two days, we would like to inform that we have resigned from our respective posts as Secretary and Treasurer of KSCA. However, our role was very limited.'
KSCA said - The responsibility of handling the crowd was of the event management company
The Karnataka government had ordered the arrest of the officials on Thursday after registering an FIR against KSCA, RCB and DNA Entertainment Network. Cricket Association President Raghuram Bhat, Secretary A Shankar and Treasurer ES Jayaram had sought cancellation of the FIR against them in the stampede case. After this, the Karnataka High Court had given relief to KSCA officials from arrest till the next hearing on June 16.
KSCA had earlier said in its petition in the High Court that RCB and the event management company were responsible for managing the crowd at the gate outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
RCB marketing head sent to 14-day judicial custody
Earlier, four officials of RCB and the event management company were also arrested on Friday. The court has sent everyone to 14-day judicial custody.
