The RPSC Group, which owns IPL franchise Lucknow Super Giants, on Monday acquired the right to partner with Lancashire to operate Manchester Originals, a team in England's league The Hundred.
According to the report, Sanjiv Goenka's RPSC Group placed the highest bid of around Rs 1252 crore to acquire a 49 percent stake in the English franchise. The group had unsuccessfully bid for 'London Spirit' on Friday. The auction was won by a tech consortium from Silicon Valley.
Goenka bought the league in SA20 2 years ago
Goenka, chairman and founder of RPSG Group, bought the Lucknow franchise in the IPL in 2021 for Rs 7,090 crore before buying the Durban franchise in SA20 in 2022. He was also the owner of Rising Pune Supergiant before this. The RPSG Group participated in the 2016 and 2017 IPL seasons when Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals were suspended.
