Mumbai Indians (MI) have appointed Mahela Jayawardene as their head coach for IPL 2025. He will replace Mark Boucher, who was the head coach of the team in 2022 and 2023.
Earlier, Jayawardene was the head coach of the team for five consecutive years from 2017 to 2022. Although he was made the global head of the franchise in 2022 due to MI's global expansion into other leagues, he has been brought back again now.
Former Indian coach Paras Mhambrey can join Mumbai Indians in the next season of the Indian Premier League. He can also be present in the mega auction to be held later this year.
Reports are claiming that Paras is soon going to join MI, one of the most successful franchises of IPL, although the franchise has not made any announcement yet. Paras has been the bowling coach of the Indian team that won the T20 World Cup on 29 June.
Last month, Rahul Dravid and Vikram Rathore joined Rajasthan Royals. The franchise announced the signing of both the Indian coaches on 20 September. The Indian team won the T20 World Cup under the coaching of Dravid and Rathore.
Paras Mhambrey has played 2 Tests and 3 ODIs for India. His first class career was brilliant, but he did not get much success at the international level. It is said about Paras that he is a more talented coach than a player.
