Malolan Rangarajan has been appointed as the new head coach of Royal Challengers Bangalore's (RCB) women's side, a significant news ahead of the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2026. The seasoned coach and former Tamil Nadu all-rounder takes up the position with a reputation for technical proficiency, strategic clarity, and in-depth knowledge of RCB's structure.

A Familiar Face in the RCB Camp

The RCB team is no stranger to Malolan Rangarajan. As the head of scouting and fielding coach for the Indian Premier League (IPL) men's team, he has made a substantial contribution to player development and team strategy in recent seasons.

His decision to take the helm of the women's team is a natural next phase in his coaching career. Ben Sawyer, who led RCB Women to show promise in the first and second WPL seasons but failed to win the championship, is replaced by Rangarajan.

RCB’s Vision for WPL 2026

The management of RCB expressed faith that Rangarajan's analytical style and experience with the home circuit will contribute to the development of a more solid and trustworthy team in 2026.

Prathmesh Mishra, chairman of the RCB, stated:

"I share a great rapport with him, and I've enjoyed our cricketing discussions. He's been a positive influence on the girls over the last three years, and I'm confident of working well together, leading RCB to success in the upcoming season.”

Ellyse Perry, Richa Ghosh, Sophie Devine, and Renuka Singh Thakur make up the team's strong core, which is led by Smriti Mandhana. Under Rangarajan's leadership, RCB hopes to end its title drought by fusing international experience with up-and-coming Indian talent.
