New Zealand opener Martin Guptill retired from international cricket on Wednesday. He is the batsman to score the highest individual score in the World Cup. Guptill played an unbeaten innings of 237 runs against West Indies in the 2015 World Cup.
Guptill has scored the most runs for the Kiwis in T20 Internationals. He is currently captaining the Auckland Aces in the Super Smash tournament. In an interview given to New Zealand Cricket, he said, playing for the Blackcaps for 14 years was the biggest honor.

Guptill said, playing for New Zealand was my dream since childhood. I feel fortunate to have played 367 matches for my country. I want to thank all my team-mates and coaching staff. Especially to Mark O'Donnell, who trained me at the Under-19 stage.
Played international cricket for 14 years
38-year-old Guptill played international cricket for New Zealand for 14 years. From 2009 to 2022, Martin Guptill played 367 matches for New Zealand, during which he also scored 23 centuries. Guptill made his international debut in 2009 against the West Indies.
Guptill, the best batsman of the Kiwis in T20, scored 3531 runs in 122 T20s. In ODIs, Martin has scored 7346 runs in 198 matches. He is the third highest run-scorer for New Zealand in ODIs. Ahead of him are Ross Taylor and Stephen Fleming.
First Kiwi batsman to score a century in debut ODI
Guptill, who made his debut in 2009, became the first Kiwi batsman to score a century in his first ODI. He scored 122 runs in 135 balls against West Indies at Eden Park.
Guptill also holds the record for most runs in a match in the ODI World Cup. He scored an unbeaten 237 runs in 163 balls with the help of 24 fours and 11 sixes. This is also the highest individual score made by a Kiwi batsman in ODI cricket.
Played 47 Test matches
Guptill played 47 Tests for New Zealand and scored 2586 runs. In which he scored 17 half-centuries and three centuries. He scored 189 runs against Bangladesh at Seddon Park in 2010, 109 runs against Zimbabwe at Queens Sports Club ground in Bulawayo in 2011 and 156 runs against Sri Lanka in Dunedin in 2015.
