In the IPL 2025 Eliminator, which took place on May 30 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, Mumbai Indians (MI) advanced to Qualifier 2 against Punjab Kings after defeating Gujarat Titans (GT) by 20 runs.
Match Summary
Rohit Sharma explosive 81 runs, Mumbai Indians scored 228
Rohit Sharma was named Player of the Match after leading the innings with a dominant 81 off 50 balls. Jonny Bairstow got things off to a quick start, scoring 47 off just 22 deliveries. MI reached a commanding total with the crucial runs provided by Suryakumar Yadav (33 off 20), Tilak Varma (25 off 11), and Hardik Pandya (unbeaten 18 off 6).
Sai Shudarson 80 incredible innings, but Boult power show, GT 20 runs short
The chase was led by Orange Cap winner Sai Sudharsan, who scored 80 off 49 balls. Washington Sundar produced a strong 48 from 24 deliveries, contributing to the momentum. But early disappointments, including Trent Boult dismissing captain Shubman Gill for just one run in the opening over, damaged GT's chase.
GT Knock Out, MI Will Play Qualifier 2 Against PBKS
After losing against MI, Gujarat Titans were officially eliminated from IPL 2025. Mumbai Indians will play a Qualifier 2 match against Punjab Kings on 1 June in Ahmedabad. Whoever wins qualifier 2 matches, they play the final against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on 3 June in Ahmedabad.
