Mohammed Shami becomes 58th cricketer to receive Arjun Award
Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami has become the 58th cricketer to receive the Arjuna Award. Today (January 9) he was awarded this big sports award. President Draupadi Murmu honored him with this award.
Salim Durrani received this award for the first time in the cricket world. The last cricketer to receive this award was Shikhar Dhawan. Shikhar received this honor in 2021. Last year no cricketer was nominated for this award but this time Shami made his place here. Along with Shami, 23 other players were also honored with the Arjuna Award.
The year 2023 was memorable for Mohammed Shami
The year 2023 was wonderful for 33-year-old fast bowler Mohammed Shami. He created a stir in the One Day World Cup held at the end of the year. Despite not playing the first 4 matches of the tournament, Shami took 24 wickets. He was the bowler taking the most wickets in this tournament. He received the award for this performance in the World Cup in the form of Arjuna Award. Shami received this award amidst thunderous applause.
