Mohammed Shami returns to Team India after a year: Bumrah-Siraj to be rested in England T20 series

Fast bowler Mohammed Shami has returned to the T20 series against England. He will play an international match 14 months after the ODI World Cup final. At the same time, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj have been rested in this series. BCCI released the team list on Saturday night. Axar Patel has been made the vice-captain of the team, Suryakumar Yadav will captain.

Rishabh Pant has not got a place in the team, Dhruv Jurel will be the backup wicketkeeper in his place. Sanju Samson will play as a regular wicketkeeper. Washington Sundar and Nitish Kumar Reddy have also been given a place in the team.

The first match of the T20 series will be played on January 22. The 3-ODI series will start from February 6. The Indian team has not been announced for the ODI series and the Champions Trophy.

Mohammed Shami is making a comeback after 14 months. He played his last match for India on 19 November 2023. If he proves his fitness in this series, then his chances of joining the Indian team for the Champions Trophy will increase.

Shivam Dubey, Jitesh Sharma, Rishabh Pant and Avesh Khan have not got a place in the Indian team. At the same time, Dhruv Jurel and Harshit Rana have got a place.

Ramandeep Singh, Jitesh Sharma, Avesh Khan, Yash Dayal and Vijay Kumar, who were part of the team that won the T-20 series from South Africa, have not got a chance.

Shami performed strongly in domestic cricket
