G11-Fantasy Cricket Prediction for Today's Match

Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami will not go to Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT). The BCCI medical team has not declared him fit yet.

In a statement issued by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday, it was said that after the surgery on his right heel, he has recovered from that problem, but there is swelling in his left knee. Which will take time to heal.

Earlier, the Indian selectors had sought Mohammed Shami's fitness report from National Cricket Academy (NCA) physio Nitin Patel on December 4. Patel was with the Bengal team throughout the Syed Mushtaq tournament to monitor his fitness.

Tried hard to prove match fitness: BCCI

BCCI said in the post, Shami tried his best to achieve match fitness after heel surgery. He played for Bengal in the Ranji match against Madhya Pradesh in November. He bowled 43 overs in this match.

Shami then played in all 9 matches of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and took 11 wickets. He also participated in extra practice sessions to prepare for the Test matches. Due to playing continuous matches, Shami's left knee has swollen. The BCCI medical team has admitted that it will take time for him to recover from this and he is not fit for the remaining two Tests in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

During this time, Shami will be under the supervision of the medical staff at the BCCI Center of Excellence and will recover. If his knee is fine, he will play in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Shami has been given a place in the Bengal team for the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

BCCI posted on X and informed about Shami fitness.

Performed brilliantly in the Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament

Many bowling experts believed that Shami looked overweight in his first Ranji Trophy match of this season against Madhya Pradesh. In the match, he did bowl 42 overs in both innings combined. But he was having problems with his follow through.

Shami was in full form against Chandigarh in Syed Mushtaq Ali. He gave only 11 runs in his first 3 overs spell. Shami bowled a total of 64 overs in Syed Mushtaq Ali and Ranji Trophy. In which he took 16 wickets. Shami bowled 42.3 overs in Ranji against Madhya Pradesh and took 7 wickets.

Mohammad Shami performed brilliantly with both bat and ball against Bengal. He scored 32 runs at a strike rate of 188.23. Shami also hit 3 fours and 2 sixes in the innings. At the same time, he bowled at a speed of 139kmph and took 1 wicket for 25 runs in 4 overs.

Played the last match on 19 November

Shami played his last international match against Australia in the form of ODI World Cup final on 19 November 2023. Shami went to England in January this year and got his ankle surgery done. He did rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru for the last several months. He has played 64 Test matches for India. Shami has 229 Test wickets to his name.
