MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja's efforts fail as Rajasthan beat Chennai by 3 runs

 

CSK faces RR in the 17th match of the tournament at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. However, after high efforts from MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja, CSK lost the match against RR by 3 runs.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) got off to a slow start in IPL 2023 chasing a target of 176 against Rajasthan Royals (RR). Ajinkya Rahane and Devon Conway saw them lose the in-form Ruturaj Gaikwad for 8 runs. The pair added 68 runs for the second wicket before Ashwin trapped Rahane lbw for 31(19) and removed Shivam Dube in his next over.

RR reduce CSK to 113-6 in 15 overs

Adam Zampa then hit a single while Yuzvendra Chahal struck twice in the same over to reduce CSK to 113-6 in 15 overs. Earlier, Ravindra Jadeja bowled an extraordinary four overs as CSK were restricted to 175/8 after Rajasthan were invited to bat. The all-rounder scalped two wickets and conceded 21 runs in his quota before Shimron Hetmyer joined the proceedings and rescued Rajasthan from a tight spot. Hetmyer scored 30 runs in 18 balls, which included two fours and as many sixes. Buttler also continued his good form and scored 52 off 36 balls before being dismissed by Moeen Ali.
