Mumbai scored 200 or more runs for the third time this season and has now reached the third position in the points table. Their batting performance in front of a vociferous home crowd was impressive and this win will give them a lot of momentum going into the next few matches.
Match Highlights
Ishan Kishan got them off to a scintillating start as he went fearless in the powerplay and smashed the opposition bowlers everywhere. Although it was another disappointing outing for skipper Rohit Sharma, it didn't matter much in this game. Kishan fell after bowling after which Suryakumar Yadav and Nehal Wadhera stitched together a brilliant partnership. The pair was a bit cautious to start with but got away with the boundaries and then went into overdrive. He scored a massive 140, out of which SKY scored 83 off only 35 balls, and remained unbeaten in the latter part of that innings. He got out at the death but Wadhera finished things off with a maximum and brought up another classy half-century.
Banglore seem losing momentum in the Match
Bangalore seems to be losing momentum at the wrong time and has now lost yet another game trying to defend. They were 15-20 runs short with the bat and made a poor start with the ball as well. Mohammed Siraj and Josh Hazlewood, their frontline pacers, were put under pressure early on and failed to recover much. Wanindu Hasaranga got a double breakthrough in his first over but conceded too many runs in the last two overs of his spell. The likes of Vaishakh Vijay Kumar and Harshal Patel were just off the pace and were dealt with easily by the Mumbai batsmen. They also missed out on not playing Kedar Jadhav in the line-up and using him as an impact player as this did not allow them to bring in an extra bowler during the chase.
