Netherlands World Cup team announced: Van der Merwe and Colin Ackerman return
Netherlands had qualified for the World Cup by defeating teams like West Indies, Scotland and Zimbabwe.
Netherlands, which qualified for the ODI World Cup after 12 years, has announced its team. Spinner Colin Ackerman, fast bowler Paul Van Meekeren and all-rounder Roelof van der Merwe have returned in the squad of 15 players.
Left arm pacer Fred Klaasen, who was part of the team in the World Cup qualifiers, could not make it to the squad due to injury. The World Cup will be played in India from 5 October to 19 November. Netherlands' first match will be against Pakistan on 6 October in Hyderabad.
Scott Edwards will captain
Wicketkeeper batsman Scott Edwards will captain the Netherlands team. Under his captaincy, the team made it to the final of the World Cup Qualifier held in Zimbabwe during July. The team also qualified for the World Cup by making it to the finals.
Michael Levitt, Vivian Kingma and Clayton Floyd, who were part of the team in the qualifiers, could not make it to the squad. Whereas Noah Cross, Kyle Klein and Tim Pringle will remain traveling reserves. All the three players will also be a part of the team's pre-tournament camp from September 19 to 28.
Teja Nidamanuru also included
29-year-old all-rounder Teja Nidamanuru, born in Andhra Pradesh, India, has also been included in the World Cup team. He led the team to victory by scoring 111 runs on 76 balls against West Indies in the World Cup Qualifier. Apart from him, 20-year-old Vikramjeet Singh, born in Cheema Khurd, Punjab is also a part of the team. He was also seen opening for the team in the qualifiers.
Teja Ndamanuru scored a century to lead Netherlands to victory against West Indies in the World Cup Qualifier.
5 countries released teams
So far 5 countries have released their team for the ODI World Cup. Netherlands, Australia, India, South Africa and England have also announced 15 players of their team. Now the teams of New Zealand, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan are yet to be announced.
Netherland first match will be against Pakistan on 6 October. The team will face India on November 12 in Bengaluru. This will also be the last match of the group stage.
