NZ v WI 2025: Blair Tickner Ruled Out 2nd Test, Due To Shoulder Injury
Updated - 11-DEC-2025 6:42 IST

Blair Tickner, a bowler who dismissed the West Indies for 205 on Day 1 of the second Test in Wellington with a key four-wicket haul, will now miss the remainder of the game.
What happened to Him?
When Tickner jumped full-length at fine-leg to block a boundary late in the game, he suffered an injury. He was stretchered off the field and transported to the hospital for treatment after landing awkwardly and possibly dislocating his left shoulder.
Will he play Next Match?
New Zealand’s cricket board confirmed that Tickner will not bowl or field for the remainder of the Test, and it’s “unlikely” he will bat either — effectively ruling him out for the match.
With New Zealand's already limited pace bowling reserves, the blow takes even greater significance. The team had already lost bowlers like Nathan Smith and Matt Henry before this Test, and Tickner's injury further reduces their resources.
Absence of Tickner, who will get a chance
With a chance to try to close off the West Indies innings and push for a lead, the squad will have to rely more on the remaining seamers, Jacob Duffy, Zak Foulkes, and youngster Michael Rae, in addition to part-time spin options.
