Pakistan may lose the hosting rights of the Champions Trophy to be held in February next year. India has refused to go to Pakistan and play this tournament. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially informed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) about this. PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi has now sought instructions from the Pakistan government on this issue.
Pakistan newspaper The Dawn quoted a PCB source as saying - If Pakistan is stripped of the hosting rights, it may also refuse to play in the tournament. Due to tense political relations, the Indian team has not gone to play in Pakistan since 2008.
Last year, Pakistan got the hosting rights of the Asia Cup. India played all its matches of this tournament in Sri Lanka. After the refusal to go to Pakistan, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) organized this tournament on a hybrid model.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has refused to play the Champions Trophy in Pakistan. ICC has informed Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) about this through official mail.
PCB has already made it clear that it will not organize Champions Trophy in hybrid model. Hybrid model means that in Champions Trophy, India's matches should be held at neutral venue and the rest of the tournament should be played in Pakistan.
According to The Dawn, ICC may shift the tournament to another country for Team India's participation. According to sources, the Pakistan government is taking this issue very seriously. If hosting rights are taken away, then the Pakistan government may ask the board to withdraw from this tournament.
Asia Cup was played in September last year. Pakistan got its hosting rights, but India refused to go to Pakistan. After this, ACC organized this tournament in hybrid model. All the matches of India were played in Sri Lanka and the rest of the tournament was held in Pakistan. Pakistan played its match against India in Sri Lanka.

The Indian team has not visited Pakistan since 2007-08. After the terrorist attack on Mumbai in 2008, the Indian government refused to play cricket in Pakistan. Since then both the teams play only in ICC and ACC tournaments. Since 2013, both teams have played 13 ODIs and 8 T20 matches at neutral venues.
