Pant said- It felt like my time was over
After the accident the knee turned 180 degrees, if there was nerve damage the leg would have had to be amputated.
Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant, remembering his car accident, said - 'That day I felt that my time in the world was over.' 26 year old Pant has spoken openly on that incident for the first time.
Pant said in a conversation with sports broadcaster Star Sports - 'For the first time in my life I felt that my time was over. At the time of the accident I knew where I was injured. It could have been more serious, but I was lucky. Pant jokingly said that I had taken an SUV, but after the accident its condition had become like a sedan.
A year ago, on December 30, 2022, Rishabh Pant's car met with an accident while going from Delhi to Dehradun. Now he has recovered and can return to cricket from the upcoming IPL season.
Conversation with Pant-
I am alive because of Rajat-Nishu. Pant said- I am alive because of Rajat and Nishu Kumar. Both of them had taken Pant out of the car after the accident. As soon as Pant came out, the car was completely burnt. Panta said- I will be grateful to these two boys throughout my life.
The knee was completely dislocated. Recalling the time of the accident, Pant said - My right knee was completely dislocated and had turned 180 degrees. I asked for help from the people standing nearby to bring the knee back to its place.
Lucky that he did not lose his leg: Pant says that he was groaning in pain and now considers himself lucky that he did not lose his leg during the accident. If any nerve other than the bone had been damaged, it was also possible that they would have separated my leg from the body.
Started thinking about the future after the accident
Pant said that ever since I started playing cricket, I never thought about the future, but after this injury, I started thinking about the future. I asked the doctor how long it would take for me to recover from the injury.
I said that different people are saying ten things and only you can tell me. On this, the doctor said that it may take 16 to 18 months. I then told the doctor that I would deduct six months from the time you were giving.
