Team India going on Australia tour will have to play on the fast and bouncy pitch of Perth in the very first match. Western Australia Cricket's head pitch curator Isaac McDonald has said - 'This is Australia, this is Perth ... I am preparing a pitch that has great pace and bounce. I want the result of this match to be like the match played last year.'
33-year-old Isaac said - 'They want to leave some grass on the pitch to make it a little spicy (fast). It will be up to 10 mm.' The Indian team has to play the first Test in Perth from November 22. The team will play a series of 5 Test matches in Australia. The last Test will be played between 3-7 January.
On November 10, in the ODI match played against Pakistan, Australia's team was all out for 140 runs. All 10 wickets of that match were taken by Pakistan's fast bowlers. Only one batsman of the Kangaroo team could score 30 runs in the match.
During the match, the pitch was seen to bounce a lot. Due to this, Australian batsman Cooper Connolly (7 runs) got injured. Mohammad Hasnain's bouncing ball hit his left hand. He wanted to pull this ball.
McDonald said- 'This (pitch) will be exactly like the one in the first match of the Test series against Pakistan in November last year. In that match, the Pakistani team was all out for 89 runs in the second innings. 8 batsmen of Pakistan could not reach double figures. Australia won that match by 360 runs. In that match, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith were hit by the ball.
Perth pitch is the fastest pitch in the world. Teams have been out on this pitch 117 times. The average speed here is 140–150 km/h (87–93 mph). The bounce in this pitch is 8-10 cm (3-4 inches) more than the average pitch.
So far 44 Tests have been played in Perth and 1,394 wickets have fallen. Out of these, 1142 wickets have been taken by fast bowlers, while 229 wickets have been taken by spinners. 23 wickets have been taken by others.
