Punjab Won By 16 Runs: PBKS Defence Lowest Total Of IPL History

On April 15, 2025, at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mohali, the Punjab Kings (PBKS) defeated the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by an incredible 16 runs while defending a meager 111 runs, the lowest total ever successfully defended in IPL history. It was a historic low-scoring thriller.

After choosing to bat first, PBKS found it difficult to counter KKR's methodical bowling approach. With 30 runs off 15 balls, Prabhsimran Singh had things going quickly, but wickets kept falling. With a bowling percentage of 3/25, Harshit Rana led KKR, with two wickets apiece from Sunil Narine and Varun Chakaravarthy. The innings ended in just 15.3 overs at 111.

As they chased a modest goal, KKR seemed to be on track for a straightforward victory. But the bowlers for PBKS drastically changed the outcome of the match. Marco Jansen's pace claimed three wickets for just 17 runs, while Yuzvendra Chahal wreaked havoc on the batting, taking four wickets for 28 runs. After KKR lost eight wickets for 33 runs and were bowled out for 95 in 15.1 overs, they lost their cool.
