Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) officials said on Tuesday, 'There are full chances of holding the final at Wankhede Stadium itself. The final decision will come by the fourth day of the semi-finals.

MCA Secretary Ajinkya Nayak said, 'Wankhede Stadium has been the home of Mumbai cricket. Mumbai's home matches have been taking place here for more than 50 years. Considering the importance of the tournament and the Mumbai cricket community, holding the final here would be the best decision.

Tamil Nadu coach said, lost due to toss

Mumbai defeated Tamil Nadu by an innings and 70 runs in the first semi-final and made it to the final. Mumbai reached the final by winning the match on the third day itself. Shardul Thakur, who scored a century, was the player of the match.

After the semi-final defeat against Mumbai, Tamil Nadu coach Sulakshan Kulkarni said that his team lost due to the toss. If captain Sai Kishore had not chosen to bat first after winning the toss, the situation could have changed. There was grass on the Mumbai pitch, this helped the bowlers and Tamil Nadu could only score 146 runs in the first innings.

According to reports, the decision to hold the Ranji final in Mumbai was postponed due to IPL. Because Mumbai Indians' home matches are to be held in Wankhede. But the Ranji final will run only from 15 to 19 March. Whereas the first match of IPL in Mumbai is to be held on 1st April.

There will be a gap of 12 days between the Ranji final and the first IPL match in Mumbai. Due to this gap, the Ranji Trophy final can now be held at Wankhede Stadium. Before this, Ranji final was played 11 times at Wankhede. This time the 89th edition of the tournament is being played. The tournament was started in 1934.
