A horrible stampede broke out outside Bengaluru's M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on June 4, 2025, as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) celebrated winning their maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) title. Over 50 people were injured, and at least 11 people, including a baby, died as a result of the disaster.

What Happened In The RCB Victory Parade In Bengaluru?

On June 4th, the RCB celebrities' victory parade took place at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium to celebrate winning the maiden IPL title after 17 years. As thousands of supporters gathered for the victory parade, a stampede ensued. Fans poured through small entry points, causing ruin due to overcrowding and poor crowd control. The crowd made it difficult for emergency personnel to reach the victims.

BCCI statement on this horrible incident

The planned victory parade was canceled in protest. Devajit Saikia, the secretary of the BCCI he said, “People are crazy for their cricketers. The organisers should have planned it better. My deepest condolences to the family of the deceased. I wish early recovery of the injured.” 

 

He apologized and underlined the importance of improved preparation for major public gatherings. The relatives of the killed received apologies from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and senior officials.

 

The accident has cast a shadow over RCB's historic victory and brought attention to how crucial crowd control is at important events. To determine responsibility and stop such situations in the future, authorities have started an inquiry.
