Roston Chase Appointed West Indies’s Test Captain

After Kraigg Brathwaite resigned in March 2025, Roston Chase was named the new captain of the West Indies Test cricket team. The announcement was made on May 17 by Cricket West Indies (CWI) after a thorough selection process that included leadership assessment psychometric tests.
Chase, a 33-year-old spin-bowling all-rounder, has appeared in 49 Test matches since making his debut in 2016. His recent command of the West Indies 'A' squad during their historic T20 tour of Nepal in April 2024 strengthened his leadership skills.
Jomel Warrican Named For Vice Captain
The vice-captain of Chase is Jomel Warrican. Notably, Shai Hope, the current white-ball captain, turned down the chance to lead the Test team. Daren Sammy, the head coach, stated that he fully supports Chase's appointment, praising his leadership abilities and the respect he enjoys among players.
West Indies upcoming home test series against Australia in June 25
A three-match home series against Australia will be Chase's first task as Test captain, starting on June 25. He has a great chance to guide the team into a new era with this series, hoping to bring West Indies Test cricket back to life.
