Shami may be out of South Africa Test series: Doubt over playing due to injury

There is doubt over Team India's fast bowler Mohammed Shami playing in the Test series against South Africa. According to the report of Cricbuzz, Shami is suffering from ankle injury and he may be out of the series. The first match of the 2 test match series will be played from 26th December.

The last group of players, including captain Rohit Sharma, is to leave for Johannesburg on Friday (December 15), but 33-year-old fast bowler Shami will not be among them. Till now BCCI has not issued an official statement regarding this. If Shami is out, Prasidh Krishna may get a chance to debut in his place.

At the time of the team announcement, BCCI had said that Shami was undergoing treatment.

Star batsman Virat Kohli and vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah, Ravichandran Ashwin, Navdeep Saini and Harshit Rana will be leaving along with Rohit Sharma. These players will fly from Dubai to South Africa.

Team India was announced for South Africa on 30 November. At the same time, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had made it clear that Shami was undergoing treatment.

Ngidi and Rabada are also unfit

South African fast bowlers Lungi Ngidi and Kagiso Rabada are also unfit. Both pacers are struggling with injury. There is doubt over the playing of these two. Fast bowler Enrique Nortya has already not been included in the team, he is still not fully fit.
