Team India's bowling all rounder Shardul Thakur got injured during the practice session on Saturday. According to PTI, Shardul was hit by a ball on his shoulder while batting in the nets.
The severity of this injury is not yet known and he will likely undergo a scan. At present it has not been confirmed whether his injury has been scanned or not. The second Test between India and South Africa will be played in Cape Town from January 3.
Shardul did not participate in the nets again after the injury.
According to the report, Shardul got injured 15 minutes after the start of the net session, when fielding coach T. Dilip was giving him throwdown practice. Shardul could not play the short ball and the ball hit his shoulder.
Shardul was feeling quite uncomfortable after being hit by the ball, but the Mumbai all-rounder continued batting in the nets. Once he finished batting, the physio put an ice pack sling on his shoulder. After this he did not participate further in the nets and did not bowl.

In the first Test, India's number eight batsman Shardul was looking in good form, but the third ball of the 44th over hit his helmet. He was hit on the head by a bouncer from Gerald Coetzee. Shardul appeared to be in trouble after being hit by the ball on his helmet and he underwent a concussion protocol, in which the medical team observed his injury. During the protocol, swelling appeared on Thakur's head.
Despite the injury, Shardul started batting again. In the 47th over, Kagiso Rabada's ball also hit his hand. This time also the medical team checked him. Shardul started batting but was caught out on the very next ball.
Shardul Thakur was out after scoring 24 runs in 33 balls. He hit 3 fours in the innings, he was hit on the helmet by the ball.
Avesh joins the Indian team for the second test
Fast bowler Avesh Khan has been included in the Indian team as a replacement for Mohammed Shami for the second Test match to be played in Cape Town from January 3 on the South Africa tour.
Mohammed Shami was included in the team for the two-Test series for the South Africa tour. Even before the start of the series, Mohammed Shami was out of the tour due to not passing the fitness test. However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India did not include any player as his replacement. Now after the end of the first match, Avesh Khan has been included in the team in place of Shami.

The Indian team is behind 1-0 in this two-match Test series. In the first Test played in Centurion, India was defeated by South Africa by an innings and 32 runs. Now both the teams will play at Newlands in Cape Town from 3 to 7 January.
