Shreyas Iyer will play in the semi-finals of Ranji Trophy

Team India middle order batsman Shreyas Iyer will play in the semi-finals of the Ranji Trophy 2023/24 season. According to a Times of India report, Shreyas Iyer has confirmed to the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) that he is now fit and available for the Ranji Trophy semi-final match for Mumbai. His name has been included in the squad for the semi-finals.

Mumbai will face Tamil Nadu in the second semi-final of Ranji Trophy. This match will be played at Bandra Kurla Complex, the ground of Mumbai Cricket Association from March 2.

Did not play in the quarter finals due to back injury

Iyer did not play the quarter-final match due to a back injury. When the Mumbai team announced its team for the quarter-final match in Ranji Trophy, Shreyas's name was not in it. The association had told that Shreyas has a back injury, due to which he will not be able to play the quarter finals.

Mumbai- Baroda match draw, Mumbai in semi-finals

Thanks to the centuries of Tanush and Tushar, Mumbai scored 569 runs in its second innings and set a target of 600 runs for Baroda to win. In response, by the end of the last day's play, Baroda had scored 121 runs losing three wickets and the match was drawn.

Whereas Mumbai qualified for the semi-finals on the basis of lead in the first innings. The team will face Tamil Nadu in the semi-finals. Earlier, Mumbai had scored 384 runs in its first innings. In reply, Baroda's first innings was reduced to a score of 348 runs.

Shreyas out of Team India due to poor form

Shreyas Iyer was injured during the Test series against Australia in March last year. He could not play the finals of IPL and WTC. He then returned from the Asia Cup, but played only 2 matches. After becoming fit, he performed brilliantly at number-4 position in the ODI World Cup. Shreyas had scored 530 runs in 11 matches.

After the World Cup, Shreyas also got a chance to play Test series in South Africa. After this he also played the first 2 tests against England. He could not score a fifty in any match, due to which he was dropped from the squad of the last 3 Tests.

BCCI has given warning to the players

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Jai Shah had recently given a warning to the players who are not playing Ranji Trophy. Shah said that if the players included in the central contract are fit and are not part of the national team, then they will have to play domestic cricket. Action will be taken against him if he does not play.
