G11-Fantasy Cricket Prediction for Today's Match

Shubman Gill, 25, has been named the new captain of the Indian Test cricket team by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). This choice comes after veteran Test cricket players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma recently announced their retirements.

In the upcoming five-match Test series against England, which starts on June 20, 2025, at Headingley, Leeds, Gill will serve as India's 37th Test captain.

Shubham Gill Test Career Highlight

Gill's hiring brings in a new era of Indian cricket by highlighting a young and ambitious strategy. In 32 games since making his Test cricket debut in 2020, he has scored 1,893 runs at an average of 35.05, including five hundreds. In July 2024, he led India as captain in a Twenty20 International series against Zimbabwe.

New chapter for Shubham Gill and India Test Cricket

The decision to give Gill captaincy was made in light of the need to control the workload of important players. Given his vital importance in the bowling attack, Jasprit Bumrah, who had previously served as vice-captain and occasional captain, was not given consideration for the position in order to maintain his fitness. With his appointment as vice captain, Rishabh Pant will contribute his energetic presence to the leadership team.
