Early Life & Personal Background
Shubman Gill was born into a farming family on September 8, 1999, in Fazilka, Punjab, India. Shubman's training was motivated by his father, Lakhwinder Singh, a cricket fan who saw Shubman's potential early. Seeing his son's innate timing and love of batting, Lakhwinder committed himself to supporting Shubman's career in cricket.
At an early age, Gill moved to Mohali in order to have access to better coaching facilities. He enrolled in the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) program, where his abilities rapidly improved. He was well-known for batting for hours in the nets even as a youngster, which was a sign of the dedicated athlete he would develop into.

Gill first came to the notice of the country during India's U16 tournaments, where he scored huge runs, including a well-known 351-run knock in an inter-district encounter.
During the 2018 ICC U19 Cricket World Cup, he made a significant breakthrough as vice captain and emerged as India's second-highest run scorer with 372 runs at an average of 124. He became a national celebrity after his incredible 102* against Pakistan in the semifinal.
Gill made his Ranji Trophy debut for Punjab shortly after, striking a century in just his second game. He had a great technique against both pace and spin in his home performances, showing his preparedness for higher levels.
International Carrer
Gill made his Test debut during the Australia tour in December 2020 and his ODI debut against New Zealand in January 2019. With a stunning 91 at the Gabba, his brave batting at the top contributed to India's historic 2020–21 Border–Gavaskar Trophy victory.
Gill has developed into one of India's reliable top-order hitters in ODIs. He is a modern ODI specialist due to his ability to rotate strike, accelerate, and construct lengthy innings. He had an exceptional year in 2023, being among the world's top ODI run scorers.

IPL Career
In 2018, Gill made his IPL debut with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), where he filled a variety of positions, including middle-order stabilizer and opener. Many in the cricket community were impressed by his early maturity.
After joining the Gujarat Titans (GT) in 2022, he experienced his real explosion. Gill developed into a strong opener and one of the league's best scorers under Hardik Pandya's direction.
