Shubman Gill fined Rs 12 lakh: Punishment given due to slow over-rate

Gujarat Titans (GT) captain Shubhman Gill was fined Rs 12 lakh for slow over rate. Indian Premier League (IPL) gave this information on Wednesday.

IPL fined Gill

In the 7th match of this season of IPL, Gujarat had to face defeat against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Tuesday. Team captain Shubhman Gill was fined Rs 12 lakh for slow over rate. IPL said in its statement on Wednesday, 'This is his team's first offense of the season under the IPL Code of Conduct related to Minimum Over Rate, hence Gill was fined Rs 12 lakh.'

Chennai defeated Gujarat Titans (GT) by 63 runs on Tuesday. Gujarat won the toss and chose fielding at Chepauk Stadium. Batting first, Chennai scored 206 runs for 6 wickets in 20 overs. Chasing the target of 207 runs, Gujarat could score only 143 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs.

punishment received during the match

Shubman Gill was also punished for slow over rate in the match against Chennai. Actually, due to one over being late, only 4 players were allowed to go out of the 30-yard circle in the last over. If he had got the overs done in time, he could have kept 5 players out of the circle. However, due to lack of one player, they did not suffer much loss, because only 8 runs were scored in this over of Mohit Sharma.

There is also a provision for restrictions

At present, Shubman Gill has only been fined, but if he is found guilty of slow over-rate in the upcoming matches, he may also be banned for one match. In fact, if found guilty for the second time, Gill will be fined Rs 30 lakh and the rest of the team players will be fined Rs 6 lakh or 25 percent of the match (whichever is higher). If this happens for the third time, a fine of Rs 30 lakh and a ban of one match will be imposed. Also, the remaining players will be fined Rs 12 lakh each or 50 percent of the match fee (whichever is higher).
