Smith & Khawaja Century, Dominated Day 1 In Galle

On January 29 (Wednesday), Australian top order’s Steven Smith and Usman Khawaja were dominated on day 1 of 1 test of Australia tour of Sri Lanka 2025 in Galle. Smith (104*) and Khawaja (147*) put Sri Lanka to the back side on day 1. Both make a partnership of 195* after Head out. Australia 330/2 on the first day of stump. 

Khawaja Century

Australian regular opener, Usman Khawaja got a century on the first day. With an 147* runs off 210 balls, he innings including 10 boundaries and a six. Khawaja powered the attack. Australia's batting lineup has a strong base thanks to his cool innings. He showed outstanding form and made a major boost to Australia's dominating advantage. 

Smith Power Century

Steven Smith is the top batsmen of Australian and international cricket. He scored 104* not out in 230 balls which include 12 fours and 2 sixes. He recently crossed 10,000 runs in international test cricket in an ongoing test, and became the 5th Australian batsmen to achieve this. Only player who has 10,000 runs with 55 average in test cricket. He was dominated by Sri Lanka spinners. He showed his class of test cricket.

Partnership Smith & Khawaja

Khawaja and Steve Smith's unbroken 195-run partnership was the day's high point. With their outstanding hundreds, both batsmen effectively stopped Sri Lanka's spin attack. 

What To Do Sri Lanka To Come Back?

Sri Lanka will try to mount a comeback by taking advantage of their home advantage and Galle's highly spin-conducive conditions. But with Australia's top order playing so well, the hosts will have a hard time changing the pace.

Sri Lanka will need to take an early wicket in the first session of day 2. If they want to come back in the 1 test, otherwise If Australia will cross 400 and take the huge lead on day 2, then it will be difficult for Sri Lanka to save the 1 test.
