South Africa team announced for ODI World Cup: Temba Bavuma is a captain
Temba Bavuma will captain the South African team for the first time in the World Cup.
South Africa's 15-member squad for the ODI World Cup has been announced. The ODI World Cup is to begin in India from 5 October. The command of the 15-member team has been handed over to Temba Bavuma. 8 players including Bavuma are part of the World Cup team for the first time. At the same time, fast bowler Gerald Coetzee, who made his debut in international cricket this year, has also got a place in the African team.
Gerald has played only two ODIs (against West Indies) so far. He has taken a total of 5 wickets in both matches. He got three wickets in the debut match.
Wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock will retire after the World Cup
He had already announced this. Apart from De Kock, batsmen Reeza Hendricks, Heinrich Klaasen, Aiden Markram, David Miller and Rassie van der Dussen have also been included in the team.
Responsibility of fast bowling will be on the shoulders of Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje and Lungi Ngidi. Whereas the responsibility of spin will be on the shoulders of Keshav Maharaj and Tabrez Shamsi.
South Africa will start its campaign from October 7
The South African team will start its campaign against Sri Lanka from October 7 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Practice matches are to be played against Afghanistan on 29th September and New Zealand on 2nd October.
