In the 43rd match of the 2025 Indian Premier League, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by five wickets on April 25 in Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium. This was the team's first-ever victory over CSK at Chepauk.
Match Summary
Harshal Patel’s outstanding bowling performance 4 wickets, CSK score 154
CSK got out for 154 in 19.5 overs after choosing to bat first. Mohammed Shami got rid of opener Shaik Rasheed on the first ball, ruining the start of the innings. Ayush Mhatre (28 off 16) and Sam Curran (8 off 8) led a brief comeback, but CSK continued to lose wickets at regular intervals. Although Dewald Brevis (24) and Ravindra Jadeja (27) offered some opposition, Harshal Patel's outstanding four-wicket haul made it impossible for CSK to form meaningful partnerships.
Ishan Kisan’s 44 runs, SRH still alive in the race of Playoff
SRH finished at 155/5 after chasing 155 and reaching the target in 18.4 overs. Although the innings got off to a strong start, CSK's bowlers were able to claim wickets at pivotal moments. The innings was maintained and SRH won thanks to a crucial 49-run partnership between Nitish Kumar Reddy (19 off 13) and Kamindu Mendis (32 off 22).
