Syed Mohsin Naqvi has been elected as the new chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Tuesday, February 6. Naqvi is the 37th chairman of PCB. He has taken over this post in place of Zaka Ashraf.

Zaka Ashraf had resigned after chairing the Managing Committee meeting in Lahore on January 19. Since then the chairman&#39;s chair in the board was vacant. Ashraf took charge in place of Najam Sethi in July 2023. His tenure was to end in February this year.

Naqvi, 45, is currently the acting Chief Minister of Punjab. He was nominated to the Board of Governors for the position vacated by Ashraf.

Zaka Ashraf was the head of the Interim Committee (IMC), from where he was made the interim president. However, this did not happen so he was given an extension of three months, which was to be completed this month. Even before this Ashraf had resigned.

Naqvi is also part of the 10-member IMC. Apart from Naqvi, the other nine members of the IMC are Kaleem Ullah Khan, Ashfaq Akhtar, Muhammad Musadiq Islam, Azmat Pervez, Zaheer Abbas, Khawaja Nadeem, Mustafa Ramde, Zulfikar Malik and Khurram Karim Somru.
