Team India leaves for South Africa tour: First T20 on 10 December

Team India left for the South Africa tour on Wednesday morning. Chief coach Rahul Dravid, batting coach Vikram Rathod and his support staff have also accompanied the team. On the South Africa tour, the Indian team has to play a series of first three T20s, then three ODIs and finally two Test matches.

Experienced batsman Virat Kohli has been rested for the T20 and ODI series of this tour. He had asked for a break from these two series. Apart from these, Rohit Sharma has also been given a break from T20 and ODI. Virat and Rohit will join the team ahead of the intra-squad match on December 20.

31 players have been selected for South Africa for all three formats. Only 3 players Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shreyas Iyer, and Mukesh Kumar have been included in all three formats.

Three captains for all three formats

Three captains have been decided for all three formats on the South Africa tour. Surya Kumar Yadav has been made the captain for T-20. KL Rahul will captain the team in ODIs. The command of the Test series is in the hands of Rohit Sharma.

Suryakumar Yadav has been made the captain of the T-20 series.

The Indian Cricket Control has extended the tenure of Rahul Dravid and his coaching staff till the T20 World Cup. The T20 World Cup is to be held in West Indies and America in July next year. The tenure of Dravid and his coaching staff ended with the end of the ODI World Cup.

The responsibility of the head coach in the home series of 5 T-20 matches against Australia was given to National Cricket Academy (NCA) Director VVS Laxman. Apart from these, Team India players have also gone along for the tour. Sanju Samson and Mohammad Siraj, who were included in the ODI team, will also leave soon.

Suryakumar Yadav will return after T-20 series

Suryakumar will return after the T20 series. The T-20 series is starting from 10th December. Whereas the first ODI will be played on 17th December. The first test will start on December 26 in Centurion.

India could not win the test series in South Africa

The Test performance of the Indian team in South Africa has not been special. Team India has not been able to win the Test series in South Africa till now. The team has played 8 test series so far on African grounds. One of these was a draw, while Team India had to face defeat in 7 series.

The team has played 23 test matches there. Out of these, the team has won only 4, while 7 matches have been drawn. The Indian team has faced defeat in the remaining 12 matches.
