Shreyas Iyer and Ishaan Kishan have been in the news for some time now. Their future is surrounded by uncertainties. Both were left out of the recently released BCCI central contract list. BCCI said in the statement, 'The names of Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan were not considered for the annual contract.

However, there was no other explanation for the absence of both in the BCCI press release. Despite being in the plans of the Indian cricket team for the last one year, the board did not consider the names of both. However, the reason behind the ouster of Ishaan-Shreyas was definitely hinted at in the press release.

"All players should prefer to play domestic cricket during the period when they are not representing the national team," the BCCI said in a press release. Actually, both Ishaan and Shreyas, despite not being in national responsibility, did not pay any attention to domestic cricket and were busy preparing for IPL. Ishan took a break from national duties in the middle of India's South Africa tour. Indian cricket team coach Rahul Dravid had said that he needs to play domestic cricket or some other format of cricket to make a comeback.

However, at that time his team was playing Jharkhand Ranji Trophy, but Ishaan had decided to stay away. He also started training with his IPL captain Hardik Pandya. It was told in the report that BCCI did not like this.

On the other hand, Shreyas Iyer had made himself unavailable for the Ranji Trophy quarter-final match for Mumbai citing injury. However, after this the NCA report came out in which it was said that he is completely fit. This star batsman of India was struggling with poor form in Test matches for some time and was dropped from the team after the first two matches against England. Not only this, instead of playing Ranji, Shreyas joined the camp of Kolkata Knight Riders to prepare for IPL. For this reason BCCI was angry. However, Shreyas is definitely playing the semi-final match for Mumbai.

Now another report has come out in which it has been said that both will definitely play IPL, but only if they play extensively in domestic cricket, then both their names will be considered for the selection of the national team. According to the report- Ishaan was given a break which he had demanded, but he did not report to the NCA or the state unit and continued training alone. Under these circumstances, there was no chance for the BCCI to offer a central contract.

Similarly, in Shreyas' case, we saw the medical report. The doors are still open for him, but he should play domestic cricket regularly. It is clear from this that it will be difficult for him to make a place in the team just by playing IPL. In such a situation, there is doubt over his selection and playing in the T20 World Cup to be held in June.
