Three captains of India on South Africa tour: Surya T20, KL Rahul ODI, and Rohit Sharma will take charge of the Test team.
The Indian team has been announced in all three formats for the South Africa tour. In each format, a different captain will command the team. Suryakumar Yadav will captain in T-20, KL Rahul in ODI, and Rohit Sharma in Test.
It was believed that Rohit Sharma would also be given the captaincy of the T-20 team. However, Rohit has kept himself away from both the T20 and ODI teams. Virat Kohli will also not play in both these series.
On this tour which is going to start from December 10, Team India has to play a series of 3 T-20, 3 ODI, and 2 Test matches. The team will leave for this tour on 6 December. Experienced batsman Virat Kohli has been rested for the T20 and ODI series of the tour. He had asked for a break from these two series.
T-20 team: Suryakumar Yadav (captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Tilak Verma, Rinku Singh, Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan (wicketkeeper), Jitesh Sharma (wicketkeeper), Ravindra Jadeja (vice-captain), Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammad Siraj, Mukesh Kumar and Deepak Chahar.
ODI team: KL Rahul (captain), Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sai Sudarshan, Tilak Verma, Rajat Patidar, Rinku Singh, Shreyas Iyer, Sanju Samson (wicketkeeper), Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mukesh Kumar, Avesh Khan, Arshdeep Singh and Deepak Chahar.
Test team: Rohit Sharma (captain), Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Rituraj Gaikwad, Ishan Kishan (wicketkeeper), KL Rahul (wicketkeeper), Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah (vice-captain) and Prasidh Krishna.
