The three white stripes on the shoulders have been replaced by the tricolor of India. The big change in India's jersey for ICC World Cup 2023
With only two weeks left before the ICC World Cup 2023, there has been a little spice added to the excitement. The ICC on Wednesday launched the anthem of this edition of the World Cup to be held in India. While the anthem, 'Dil Jashn Bole' received mixed reactions on social media, a few hours later, India's kit partner Adidas came out with its own anthem for the Indian cricket team. The 2-minute 21-second anthem "Impossible Nahi Ye Sapna, 3 Ka Dream Hai Apna" is based on India's quest to win its third ODI World Cup.
Kapil Dev led India to its first ODI World Cup title in 1983 and then MS Dhoni ended a long wait with India's second ODI World Cup win in 2011. Meanwhile, India won another World Cup in 2007 but that was in T20. Format.
The Adidas anthem features India captain Rohit Sharma, superstar Virat Kohli, vice-captain Hardik Pandya, young Shubman Gill, fast bowlers Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and spinner Kuldeep Yadav.
BCCI tweet on X
"1983 - the spark. 2011 - the glory.
2023 - the dream.
Impossible nahi yeh sapna, #3kaDream hai apna,"
Apart from the catchy rap with the message of ending India's long wait to win an ICC trophy, the video also shows a glimpse of India's World Cup jersey.
There will be no Dream 11 logo, ICC does not allow anything other than the team name in the middle of the jersey
There has been a major change in the jersey worn by India in the recently concluded Asia Cup. The three white stripes on the shoulders have been replaced by the tricolor of India. The jerseys worn by Rohit, Kohli, and others in the video had orange, white, and green stripes on the shoulders.
Netizens believe that Adidas' move was a masterstroke and the tricolor stripes took India's World Cup jersey to a different level. This is not the only change that will be seen in India's jersey from the Asia Cup. There will be no Dream 11 logo during the World Cup as the ICC does not allow anything other than the team name in the middle of the jersey.
