UP Warriorz Beat RCB In The Super Over Thriller

On 24 February, the ninth match of WPL 2025 was played between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and UP Warriorz at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. UP Warriorz beat Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the super over. This is the first super over of WPL 2025.

Match Summary

Ellyse Perry’s 90 Runs Inning, RCB Set The Target Of 180 

RCB lost  the toss, came for bat first. Smriti got an early wicket. RCB Allround came from Ellyse Perry’ who had an outstanding inning of 90 runs in 56 balls including 9(4), 3(6). A significant 50-run partnership for the second wicket between Danielle Wyatt (9 runs) and Ellyse Perry (40 runs) off 44 balls. With her power hitting help RCB scored 180 in the 20 overs. 

Sophie Ecclestone 33 Runs Inning, Help UP To Tie The Match 

Chasing 180, UP Warriorz lost 3 wickets in the power play. Kiran’s score 24 runs in 12 balls, Dinesh scored 14 runs in 10 balls. Tahlia was gone for duck. Shweta handled the middle overs, she scored 31 in 25 balls. Given the momentum to UP Warriorz in middle overs. But after she was out,  Sophie Ecclestone came and showed her power hitting batting skill, taking the match to the last overs. For RCB, bowling Sheh Rana took 3 wickets, Rinku and Kim took 2-2 wickets each. 

In the last ball UP Warriorz needed 2 runs in 1 ball. Sophie hit the ball and ran for 2 runs, but after 1 run Sphir got run out by Ghosh. Match a Tie.

UP Warriors Won The Super Over Thriller

In the super over, UP Warriors came for the bat and scored 8 runs in 6 balls by 1 wicket down. RCB came for the batting, they scored only 4 runs without loss of any wicket in 6 balls. UP Warriorz won the super over.
