West Indies second highest run chase in ODI: England defeated by 4 wickets

West Indies have started the three-match ODI home series against England with a win thanks to an unbeaten century by captain Sai Hope. The Caribbean team defeated the British team by 4 wickets in the first match played in Antigua. With this, West Indies has taken a 1-0 lead in the series.

England won the toss and batted first and scored 325 runs. Chasing the target of 326 runs, the Caribbean team achieved the loss of 6 wickets with 7 balls remaining and won the match by 4 wickets.

This was also West Indies' second-highest successful men's ODI run chase in their history. Earlier in 2019, the Caribbean team had scored 331 runs for 5 wickets while chasing against Ireland in Malahide.

England scored 78 runs in power play

England's openers Phil Salt and Will Jacques gave a good start to the team. Together they scored 50 runs in 5.4 overs. England got the first blow when Gudakesh Moti got Salt caught out in 8.2 overs. At that time the team's score was 77 runs. Salt scored 45 runs on 28 balls.

Moti, Thomas, and Shepherd took 2-2 wickets for West Indies

For West Indies, Gudakesh Moti, Oshan Thomas and Romario Shepherd took 2-2 wickets. While Alzarri Joseph and Yannick Carrio took 1-1 wicket.
