According to media reports, UAE is a strong contender to host the Women's T20 World Cup if it is shifted from Bangladesh. UAE has international stadiums in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. UAE has also organized the T20 World Cup in the past. In the year 2021, due to Corona, the Men's T20 World Cup to be held in India was held in UAE. India will not host the Women's T20 World Cup as BCCI has rejected the ICC's offer in which the International Cricket Council had proposed to hold the tournament in India due to political instability in Bangladesh.
BCCI Secretary Jai Shah said in an interview given at the Times of India office in Mumbai on Thursday - 'We are hosting the Women's ODI World Cup next year. In such a situation, we do not want to indicate that we want to hold the World Cup in our own home continuously.'
The Women T20 World Cup is to be played in Bangladesh from 3 to 20 October. 10 teams will participate in this World Cup. 23 matches will be held in 18 days. India is in Group A with 6-time champion Australia. Apart from this, this group includes Pakistan, New Zealand and a team from the qualifier. Host Bangladesh, England, South Africa, West Indies and Qualifier-2 team are in Group B. All the matches of this group will be played in Dhaka.
Top two teams from both the groups will reach the semi-finals. As of now, the first semi-final will be played in Sylhet on October 17 and the second semi-final will be played in Dhaka on October 18. The final will be played in Dhaka on October 20.
