Ashraf was destined to become the chairman

Ashraf was a strong contender for the chairmanship in the PCB elections to be held last month. Najam Sethi, the head of the PCB's interim management committee, had withdrawn his name a few days before the election. With this, it was decided that Ashraf would become the chairman. However, the election of the PCB chairman was postponed after the Board of Governors constituted by Sethi was challenged in various courts of Pakistan.

Zaka Ashraf has been PCB chairman from 2011 to 2013

Zaka Ashraf has been the PCB chairman from 2011 to 2013. In 2013, the Islamabad High Court removed him from the post saying that his appointment was done illegally. At that time Najam Sethi was made the acting chairman of PCB. However, a year later, Ashraf again got the chair of PCB chairman.

Whereas Zaka Ashraf has got the support of Pakistan People's Party. In such a situation, before taking any decision in PCB, he will have to take the approval of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
