ZIM v SL Series 2025: Brendan Taylor Returns for ODIs Against Sri Lanka
Updated - 26-AUG-2025 5:1 IST

According to reports, former Zimbabwe captain Brendan Taylor is expected to make a spectacular comeback to international cricket. He may play in Zimbabwe's upcoming One-Day International (ODI) series against Sri Lanka. One of the most accomplished cricket players in the nation would make a spectacular return if it were confirmed.
He came back from Retirement
One of Zimbabwe's best batsmen of the modern era, Taylor retired from international cricket in 2021. With almost 6,600 runs, 11 hundreds, and more than 200 ODIs under his belt, he continues to be Zimbabwe's second-highest run scorer in the format. Taylor, renowned for his ability to steady innings and accelerate under pressure, may offer much-needed solidity to Zimbabwe's batting order, which has struggled to remain consistent in previous years.
Why did he take retirement?
In 2022, he resigned from the game amid controversy after acknowledging that Indian bookmakers had engaged in spot-fixing, although he denied ever being involved in it. Although the ICC suspended him for not reporting the incident right away, the ban has already ended, allowing him to be selected.
