Ashwin can play for CSK in IPL-2025: He made his debut with this team in 2009
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) can buy Ravichandran Ashwin in the IPL-2025 mega auction. He was released by Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the recently released retention list.
Off-spinner Ashwin, who played for Chennai till 2015, may return home. The team has retained captain Rituraj Gaikwad, Ravindra Jadeja, Shivam Dubey, Mathish Pathirana and MS Dhoni (uncapped) all for Rs 65 crore. The team has Rs 55 crore left in the purse.
Chennai will bid on Ashwin According to a TOI report, Chennai's wishlist includes Rishabh Pant and off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. 38-year-old Ashwin played IPL for the franchise for 6 years. He made his debut for CSK in 2009. After which he has played for Rising Pune Supergiants, Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals. About 2 months ago, Ashwin expressed his desire to play for Chennai again.
Chennai and Punjab fight for Pant
Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant has not been retained by Delhi Capitals. In such a situation, many teams can go after Pant. Because Chennai has 55 crores left and they have to include more players in the team, so they cannot bid more than 25 crores. Apart from this, Punjab, Lucknow and Bangalore can include Rishabh in their team.
Right-to-match card for Devon Conway
Chennai can use the Right-to-Match card for the Kiwi opener. In 2023, Conway scored 672 runs in 16 matches for Chennai at an average of 52.
What is Right to Match Card
Teams can use the Right to Match i.e. RTM card in the auction. For example, suppose Mumbai Indians did not retain Rohit Sharma. His name came up in the auction and he was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 10 crore. Now if Mumbai wants, they can use the RTM card to retain Rohit for Rs 10 crore. All teams will have the RTM card.
